EXPERIENCE AN ARTISTIC REPRESENTATION OF DAYLIGHT AND FRESH AIR DURING LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL AT THE CUBE BY VELUX®
Between 18th and 26th September 2021 London Design Festival will become the home of The Cube by VELUX®, a sanctuary where visitors can unplug, unwind, and let the combination of daylight and fresh air put their mind at ease.
Positioned at Observation Point on the South Bank and designed by renowned Danish architecture firm, Henning Larsen, The Cube by VELUX® is set to become the perfect pit-stop to experience an ‘Moment of Calm’ in a busy city – as it makes up one of the ten key sites of interest at the 2021 London Design Festival, that takes place across the city.
Eva Ravnborg, Design Director at Henning Larsen, comments: “At Henning Larsen, we share a mutual interest and history with VELUX in that we work with daylight. In Scandinavia, where we’re based, daylight is a resource that we work with very consciously. It is sometimes in abundance, sometimes scarce, but most of all it’s ever-changing! Getting an opportunity to collaborate on The Cube by VELUX has been a perfect opportunity to be playful with daylight and create a special experience for the visitors”.
The unique installation – brought to life by Formroom – will feature a mosaic of VELUX roof windows and play a bespoke soundtrack by Danish musician Kasper Bjørke that recreates sounds from nature, such as wind and birdsong – and will allow its visitors to experience the connection with nature that roof windows can bring to a space, during the iconic annual design event. The sound experience at The Cube by VELUX® is brought to life by audio partner, Bang & Olufsen.
Musician, Kasper Bjørke, comments: “From producing and DJing with ambient music, I discovered it can create an immensely ethereal atmosphere that allows listeners to transcend and connect with a different state of mind – even in a public space surrounded by others. I hope people visiting the installation will feel the same sense of calm and tranquillity when listening to the music that I felt producing it.”
Mads Kogsgaard Hansen, Senior Global Product Manager for Classics & Product Circularity at Bang & Olufsen comments: “We are pleased that Bang & Olufsen speakers and headphones will amplify Kasper’s ethereal music within The Cube. Visitors can get a truly immersive music experience through the Beoplay HX headphones or enjoy the ambient music through eight Beosound Level speakers, which have just been recognized as the first-ever Cradle to Cradle Certified® speaker in the consumer electronics industry.”
